Om - Cremation Ghat I

live at Europa, 10/11

A friend made the observation that, as of this show, Al Cisneros doesn’t seem to be doing too well. That he’s always been sort of depressive and weird, but that now he looks pretty much miserable. I wonder if he’s had it with the OM project now that he’s a part of Shrinebuilder. I went to both OM shows in NYC and it certainly appears that the guy is at the end of his rope. I’m very interested to see Shrinebuilder next month, and what kind of energy they have.

Symbolism in life

Next year, my birthday will fall on 10/10/10. I will be turning 28, which is exactly 10 years older than I had ever thought I should allow myself to get. Because as a teenager I had always had a very solid plan to do away with myself when I turned 18, I guess I never got around to making any other plans. So I’ve been living my life pretty much day-by-day.

My tattoo is of an octopus and when I got it, it was just a cool design. Now I think that it actually does stand for something. I feel that it is my grabby, strangely evolved, basic-needs approach to life. Especially as far as the opposite sex is concerned. My octopus has eight tentacles, and one is occupied, holding on to a man’s ankle. But the other seven are just slithering around, looking to grab shit up. Next year, when I celebrate my birthday, I will have been with Chris for 10 years.

About a year ago, I started thinking about getting another tattoo, and I thought that it should be an army that will fight the octopus. I still don’t know what it should be an army of - people? flies? ships? - but 10 x 10 x 10 is one thousand, or 1K. I’m making my decision right now. Next year, for my birthday, I am getting a tattoo of a thousand-strong army. It’s going to surround and overpower the octopus and I will grow up and think about what I am going to do in life, and stop acting as though I’m single when I’m really really not, and clean my goddamn apartment every once in a while, and learn about the stock market, and become an adult.

P.S. 101010 in binary is 42.

Because you never have enough stuff: I’ve been looking online for a really satisfying, strong, good-looking umbrella. For me, that means an umbrella with a lot of ribs. The only one I’ve been able to find is the Brelli. It’s pretty pricey, and I think it doesn’t look all that strong, but it’s the only one I’ve found that meets most of my specifications. The larger version of the Brelli costs $76, which is $5 less than this mint condition, antique umbrella from 1897, with a solid gold engraved handle.

The speech foibles of each of the five corners of New York.

@ 10:25 pm

I’ve been watching True Blood. One of my favorite things about the show is the accent (or various accents) attempted by the international cast. I don’t know a thing about Southern accents, and to my virgin ears all of the characters sound delightful, each more authentic than the last. Imagine my surprise when I found that people who have actually been south of Philadelphia turn their noses up at the accents on this show and say that none, NONE of these people have a proper Southern twang. I guess I just can’t tell.

But this got me thinking about New York accents in film and television. Occasionally I’ll happen upon a really bad, really fake one and it’s very distracting and annoying. So I’ve been looking up “bad new york accent” on youtube, but there’s nothing so far except kids messing around in their bedrooms. Any tips, guys? The only concrete one I can remember is this, Paris Hilton as “GEEna frawm BROAUKLYHN”.

I know Cossacks are ultimately racially-motivated, violent assholes. But if you are into alpha males, and you are, you can just put all that on the side. Dibs on the one with the hat.
